Killingly Grange News for February

By Glenna Bruno

  FEBRUARY 2, 2014 --

Happy New Year to everyone and good health!  By the time "you all" get to read of Killingly Grange’s activities past and present it will be the "new year."  Hopefully a better one for not only Killingly Grange #112, but all our Quinebaug Pomona Grangers.

Killingly Grange #112 held its Christmas Party at the Grange with visiting Granges and a potluck supper.  As in other years, Killingly Grangers chose to donate gifts and food baskets to a few foster families and we did have three big loads of the above.  Everyone was most generous – so we are off to a good start even at the end of the old year.

Upcoming events should be on Facebook, but I will pass the info along this way- Feb. 22, Mar. 29 & Apr. 26- Bluegrass with Nick Anderson- Refreshments- 6pm.  Chicken Pot Pie Dinner- 7pm- program on stage.

Upcoming Farmers’ Markets:  Sat., Feb. 15, 10-1:30; Sat., Mar. 22, 10-1:30; Last Market will be on Sat., Apr. 19 (Garden Day at the Grange).

These have proven to be quite an attraction and well attended.  Refreshments and lunch are also available.  The “Great White Elephant” Sale is in the works.  Watch for more on that later.

With our new “energetic” Master Bernadette, we older members and some of the newer members of Killingly Grange are having a little difficulty keeping up but that’s a good thing.  It’s like a “shot in the arm” for the Grange and hopefully will draw in more new members.  Don’t forget to fill in your calendar with all our ongoing events and see you soon in the new year!

Feb. 3:  Western Night

Feb. 17:  Snow Date

Mar. 3:  Flirting with Flowers

Mar. 17:  Famous Women
