Around The Grange
Winchester Grange January 2014 Musings

By Todd Gelineau, Winchester Grange President

  JANUARY 6, 2014 --

Let’s hope the Tuesday weather pattern that has dominated November and December will not carry into the new year!  Our second meeting of November and our meeting on the second Tuesday of December were both canceled due to snow.  In addition, an officer’s planning meeting scheduled for December 6 was also canceled due to weather.  We were finally able to meet on Thursday, December 19 for a brief business meeting as the next two Tuesdays were Christmas and New Year’s Eve.  It can be difficult to meet the requirements of the National Digest, but it can be done with perseverance!

Despite our constant activities throughout the spring, summer and fall, the end of year financial picture is always challenging.  We were very pleased to receive generous donations from our members that will go a long way towards carrying us through a very expensive heating season.  One donation was quite large and the donors asked to remain anonymous, but we know they are subscribers, so THANK YOU for your generous support of YOUR Grange!

We also thank the many members that didn’t wait for their dues notices to arrive to send in their checks.  It is greatly appreciated, especially by the Secretary!

Hopefully our first meeting of January will go on as scheduled.  There will be a potluck supper beginning at 6:00 P.M. followed by the business meeting.  That evening we will set a new date for our Planning Meeting that was canceled in December.
