North Stonington Community Grange News for July

By Nancy R. Weissmuller

  JULY 9, 2013 --

Sadly we have draped our Charter for two more Golden Sheaf members, having lost Ralph Main, Jr. and George Cottrell to the Great Grange above.  At our May Memorial program we mourned the loss of eight members during this past year.

A hardworking group of Grangers put our float together for the annual Memorial Day Parade early Monday morning.  Richard White’s hay wagon was magically transformed into a beautiful conveyance for the 2012 Queen and Princesses of the North Stonington Agricultural Fair.  Jeff Barnes guided Richard’s truck, which sparkled in the sun almost as brightly as the glittering dresses of the ladies on board the float, along the parade route this year.

Don’t miss our annual North Stonington Agricultural Fair, July 11-14.  There’s lots of fun for the whole family.

Our August programs are always enjoyable.  The men and ladies try to outdo each other in both programs and refreshments.  And if all this rain doesn’t make the lawn get ahead of my new, super lawn mower, next time we’ll tell you all about jolly June.

July 12:  Meeting Omitted. Come to the N. Stonington Agric. Fair

July 19:  “Ragtag”

Aug. 9:  “Smorgasbord” Men have program.  Ladies have refreshments.

Aug. 23:  “Mixed Bag” Ladies have program.  Men have refreshments.
