Bridgewater Grange News for April

By Dean Perry

  APRIL 6, 2013 --

The Grange Hall has not been used during the winter months due to the cost of heating it.  The Episcopal Church next door has been kind enough to allow us to have our meetings there.  We try to meet on the second Sunday of the month at 2 P.M. in Jan., Feb., and March.  January was good but February’s weather was not.  We finally had our February meeting on the 24th.

We lost one of our longtime members, Edith Page.  She lived with her daughter, Deborah Ludwig (also a member), in Center Harbor, New Hampshire.  The both supported our Grange even though they were too far away to attend meetings.  They had a memorial service in Gaylordsville, Connecticut and we had several Bridgewater Grange members there to pay their respects.

On March 10th we had our meeting at the church.  On Tuesday, March 26th we visited people and delivered Easter Flowers.  On Saturday, March 30 we sponsored an Easter Egg hunt for the children of Bridgewater.

On Wednesday, April 10 we will have our monthly meeting in the Grange Hall at 7:30 P.M.  Every meeting will be there on the second Wednesday of the month except when we have a combined picnic and meeting in August.  There will be a potluck dinner on Friday, April 26th at 6:30 P.M.  A community service award will be given out then.

Our Grange Roast Beef Dinner will be at 5:30 P.M. on the second Saturday of May, June, September and October.  A Hootenanny will follow at approximately 7:30 P.M. featuring Jeff Case and Friends.
