Around The Grange
New Haven County Pomona News for December

By Nancy R. Weissmuller

  DECEMBER 9, 2012 --

Our Antique Festival was a rousing success.  The upstairs of North Stonington Grange Hall was transformed into a museum.  There was a Civil War soldier in full uniform who was eager to show you his weapons and the contents of his haversack and share his knowledge of the terrible war that divided our nation.  The Stanton Davis Homestead from Stonington and the Leffingwell Inn from Norwich both had interesting exhibits complete with knowledgeable docents.  Downstairs Colchester Grange served a lunch that included delicious corn chowder and a variety of sandwiches with chips and a pickle.  Anne Marie and her crew manned the bake sale that offered a diversity of handmade goodies.  Experts were on hand to appraise the many antiques brought in by the public.  We raised a tidy sum to help pay for the new roof on our Pomona cabin at Camp Berger.  Pomona had an information/membership table to inform the public about the Grange.

Please come to Colchester and celebrate the holidays with us.  Colchester will hold a brief meeting at 6:30.  Our meeting begins at 7:30.

Here come the holidays, can it be true?

It seems like the summer can barely be through.

Please come to our party, you’ll have lots of fun.

And please bring a buddy, a daughter or son.
