DECEMBER 1, 2012 -- Residents placed their opening bids on their favorite, themed Christmas trees at the reception of the Friends of the Tolland Public Library silent tree auction on Thursday night.
"Every tree has a draw to someone," commented circulation desk assistant Joan Vertefeuille of the variety of trees. Participants can place bids on 34 trees, one wreath and one quilted runner.
The starting bid is $10, and increases must be larger than $2 increments.
Tolland artists and residents created many of the trees, and businesses and groups such as ArtSake Gallery, Tolland Public Library, Colonial Gardens, Still in Style, Tolland Grange, the Tolland Inn, Tolland Bicycle, GameStop, Wildflowers of Tolland, Tolland Community Women and Gengras Harley have also contributed trees to the auction.
Bids can be placed on the trees until the closing reception on Sunday, Dec. 2 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. |
