Around The Grange
November News from Ekonk Community Grange

By Sue Gray

  NOVEMBER 3, 2012 --

This fall (as of this writing) our Grange has donated and delivered 159 pounds of watermellon, spaghetti squash and butternut squash to three different soup kitchens and we have quite a bit more to be delivered!  Clifford Gervais has donated 18 large bouquets of his magnificant dahlias around town, bringing cheer to many with their beautiful colors, sizes and shapes!  We donated a new diaper bag plus many, many baby items to a Sterling family who needed some extra help with their new infant. Thanks to Betsy Molodich & crew for the Subordinate and Junior exhibits they set up at Woodstock Fair, which added $150.00 each to our Treasury!  We continue collecting non-perishable food items at all suppers; there is a constant need, not just at holiday time.

We held another highly successful “Meet The Candidate” Night with both State Senatorial Candidates from the 18th District in attendance.  Andy Maynard (D) and Theresa Madonna (R) both spoke and then fielded questions (there were many) from the audience.  The friendly evening ended with cider and donuts donated by the Ekonk Hill Turkey Farm!

Link Cooper is repairing and improving our President’s podium.  We voted to donate a new Bible to the Junior Grange.

If you would like a table at our annual Holiday Bazaar-call 860-564-2131.

Best wishes to all for a blessed Thanksgiving Day; hope your harvests in both garden and life remain full!
