Preston City Grange remembers Past Pres. Winifred Grabon

Winifred Edna Benjamin Grabon departed this Earth on August 7, 2012. She was born August 15, 1928, in Norwich, CT to Fred White and Gladys Lillian Pierce Benjamin.

She was an alumni of Norwich Free Academy class of 1946, a member of the Second Congregational Church in New London, 60 years plus member of Preston City Grange, holding office of Lady Assistant Steward and Master (President) for several years, also station of Pomona of New London County and a member of State and National Grange. She retired in 1992 from Waterford Tax Office and resided in Groton over 20 years.

Winifred married Franklin J. Grabon of West Salem, Wisconsin on May 13, 1950, they divorced April 13, 1989.

Survivors include; four beloved sons, each of whom are Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scouts, four wonderful daughter-in-laws and eight very precious grandchildren. Donald of Chester, his wife Lori and their children Jonathan and Megan. Steven of Vernon, his wife Robin and their children Lynette and Jeffrey. Richard of Vernon, his wife Nina and their children Deanna, Jennifer and David. Robert of Uncasville, his wife Tina and their child Rebecca. Also by her sister Ruth Reedy of Niantic and sister-in-law Marie Benjamin of Preston, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and friends.

Two brothers Carl Alfred and Roy Irving, her father, her Dad's 2nd wife and her step-sister, predeceased her.

A Life Celebration Ceremony and Birthday Reception are planned for Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Harkness Memorial Park, Great Neck Road, Waterford, at 11:30 am. 

Donations in lieu of flowers or birthday to St. Jude Children's Cancer Research would be welcome, www.stjude.org, in memory of Winifred Grabon, Pleasant Valley Road, Groton, CT.
