Around The Grange
Winchester Grange to hold Holiday Bazaar & Cookie Walk Nov. 5th
  OCTOBER 18, 2011 --

On Saturday, November 5, the two floors at Winchester Grange Hall will be transformed into the festive sights, smells and sounds of the North Pole as the Grange holds their annual Holiday Bazaar and Cookie Walk.

The Holiday Bazaar will feature over 20 vendors and artisans selling a variety of items such as homemade crafts, jewelry, pottery, and holiday decorations.  Winchester Grange will also present a drawing featuring a Christmas Quilt and other homemade creations from members, as well as the famous Cookie Walk.  The event will be held at the Grange Hall located on the green in Winchester Center from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Todd Gelineau, President of Winchester Grange says that many people from the community wait in anxious anticipation for the Holiday Bazaar and Cookie Walk each year.  "It's a big hit in the Center for young and old alike.  They mark the date on their calendars months in advance so they don't miss our Holiday Bazaar and especially the Cookie Walk."

The Cookie Walk was started by Winchester Grange Secretary Sue Addison and the idea took off - now expanding to practically every variety of delicious cookies that can be thought of.  The Cookie Walk gives shoppers a chance to fill a decorated coffee can full of cookies for a low affordable price of $3.00.

One of the highlights of the event is the Soup and Sandwich Luncheon presented by the Grange.  Organizers say that the Luncheon which features a variety of sandwiches, pastries, desserts, and homemade soup, often sells out, so visitors are encouraged to attend early.

The Holiday Bazaar is one of the major fundraisers sponsored by Winchester Grange throughout the year. The proceeds from the event will go towards the many community projects and donations sponsored by the organization. Other events include their Strawberry Festival in June, Super Prize Parties in May and September,  Tag Sales in June and October, and the popular Grange Fair and Flea Market in August.

"This event isn't possible without the support of the many members, friends and volunteers who give of their time and talents."  Gelineau said.

Vendor space is currently available, but going fast.  An eight foot table is available at the price of $20.00 for Grange members, and $30.00 for non-members.
