| JULY 19, 2011 -- A team of eight youths from the Ekonk Community Grange participated in the Northeast Youth Conference July 10 at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine.
Team members included Maria Angelone, Jaimie Cameron, J. Allen Cameron, Clifford Gervais, Katie Hermonot, Katie Molodich, Christopher Sebastian and Shelley St. Jean. The competitors range in age from 10 to 20 years.
The team represented Connecticut at the regional competition.
Several locals took home individual prizes as well: Maria Angelone, 10, won in the talent competition with her tap dance routine. She also won in her division in public speaking. Christopher Sebastian, 15, placed first in public speaking in his age group. Both live in Sterling. Coaches were Michael Molodich, of Sterling, and Jody Cameron, of Moosup. |
