Prospect Grange News

By Jean Meehan

  MAY 24, 2011 --

We were happy to be able to present the Citizen of the Year Award to Bernice and Bill Sullivan of Prospect for their volunteer work.  For many years they have quietly volunteered their time at the schools, helping the Boy Scouts writing cooking tips for the Senior Center newsletter and teaching cooking at the Senior Center.  Bill was also, Mr. fix-it where he fixed broken chairs, tables, etc and took photos at all the Senior Center events.  Their acts of kindness helped many in our community.

We miss Inez Bramhall, who has been ill and Ruby DeCosta who has not been able to get out to our meetings.

Our June meeting will be a short meeting followed by a  potluck picnic with games, etc. We are also collecting non-perishables for the local Food Bank.

We donated vegetable seeds to the Senior Center for their Community Garden, as well as the flower seeds to the Hotchkiss Historical Farm and both vegetable and flower seeds to  the Scott Road Community Garden.

We meeting the second Thursday of each month at the Prospect Senior Center  at 7:30 p.m.  We enjoy having visitors.
