Beacon Valley Grange remembers Vera Ferson

Vera Zemoitel Kudzma Ferson, 92, of Swain Avenue, Meriden, died Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. Vera was born in New York City, New York, March 23, 1919, a daughter of the late Michael and Jenny Zemoitel and had been a Naugatuck resident for many years before moving to Meriden.

She had been employed as a proofreader for several local newpapers until her retirement, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Meriden. Vera was a member of the VFW, the Beacon Valley Grange, the American Legion, the Elm City Banjo Band, the Young at Heart and the Max E. Muravnick Senior Center.

She is survived by her son Conrad E. "Bud" Kudzma and his wife Lois of Meriden, with whom she resided for 13 years; her grandchildren Richard Kudzma of Naugatuck, Eric Kudzma of Wallingford, Kyrsten (Matthew) Pietrusewicz of Southington; her great grandchildren Casey Pietrusewicz, Dylan Pietrusewicz and Brayden Kudzma; her sister Olga Schwartz of Middlebury; and numerous nieces; nephews; cousins; and countless friends. She was predeceased by her first husband Adolph Kudzma and her second husband Winston Ferson; and her two sons, Eric Kudzma and Michael Kudzma.

Vera's family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at MidState Medical Center for their care and support. Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Tuesday, April 12, from 4 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 13, at 11 a.m. at the Grove Street Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck, CT. 06770.
