Lyme Grange remembers Elizabeth York
  FEBRUARY 9, 2011 --

Elizabeth B. York, 94, of East Lyme, died on Feb. 6, 2011, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital. She was born on Feb. 15, 1916, in Providence, the daughter of Charles R. Brown and Rdell (Scriver) Brown.

She graduated from Wheeler High School in 1934 and Willimantic Teacher's College in 1938., She married Francis York on July 5, 1941; he predeceased her., Mrs. York was a school, for many years in Westbrook and New London.

She attended Flanders Baptist Church and was a member of the Jr. Circle Group. She was also a member of the New London Maritime Service, the National Education Assoc., the Chesterfield Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, the Lyme and Salem Grange. 

She is survived by her son, Bruce F. York of Norwich; her daughter, Sharon Fensky and Peggyann York of East Lyme; her sister, Mildred B. O'Neil of Florida; her grandchildren, Todd and Duane Matthewson and Chris and Bethany York; her great-grandchildren, Jason, Shannon, Antony, Francesca, Dianemarie, and Romaro; great-great-grandchildren, Aidan and Caleb; her nieces, Charlotte, Kathy, and Lorain O'Neil, Ardell, Celeste, and Rhonda Patnoe; and her nephews, George York and Eugene Murray., In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by her sister, Charlotte Patnoe.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Lake Ave., Niantic. Burial will follow in East Lyme Cemetery. Calling hours will be held for two hours prior to the service from 10 a.m to 12 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to the East Lyme Senior Center, 37 Society Road, Niantic CT 06357 or to Flanders Baptist and Community Church, Boston Post Road, East Lyme CT 06333.
