JULY 27, 2010 -- Harry Tancreti, 89, of North Haven, died July 22 at the Hospital of St. Raphael, with his family at his side. He was born in New Haven on Feb. 22, 1921, son of the late Pasquale and Josephine Stana Tancreti. He had served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He had also worked along with his family on Tancreti Farms for many years and was a member of the North Haven Grange No. 35 and the American Legion Murray/Reynolds Post No. 76.
He is survived by his children, Catherine Candelora and her husband Salvatore of North Branford, Pasquale Tancreti and his wife Zoe of Little Rock, Arkansas, Josephine Bennett of Wallingford, Debbie McDonald and her husband Robert of Wilmington, Delaware, and Allen Tancreti and his wife Anne, also of Wilmington, Delaware. He is also survived by his siblings, Gloria Guido and her husband John, Leo Tancreti and his wife Helen, and Catherine "Dolly" Idone, all of North Haven; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Helen Ann Tancreti; a sister Mary Martin; and two brothers, Mario and Manuel Tancreti.
A funeral procession was held from the North Haven Funeral Home on July 26, followed by a mass of Christian burial at St. Therese Church. Burial with full military honors took place in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
