Wallingford Grange Celebrates 125th Anniversary
  JULY 8, 2010 --

A proclamation declaring May 27, 2010 as Wallingford Grange No. 33 Day was issued by Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell to honor the Grange's 125th Anniversary. The Grange held a celebration on May 27th to a large group of Grange members and friends at Wallingford Grange Hall, which also included presenting Wallingford Grange's Community Citizen of the Year award.

The Anniversary evening began with the reading of the original minutes of the organization meeting from May 27, 1885. After the presentation of the proclamation and statement by Governor Rell, Grange President Dan Lauttenbach presented the Community Citizen Award to Patricia Lizotte of Wallingford.

Lizotte is very active in Veterans affairs. She is president of the Shaw-Sinon Auxiliary Unit 73 American Legion and president of the Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 591. She also conducts Bingos at the VA hospital in West Haven. Giving back to the community is important for Lizotte. She collects new clothing for homeless veterans for the "Homes for the Brave" program and assists veterans at the Newington VA.

One of Lizotte's current projects is soliciting donations for the Columbus House in New Haven. Columbus House is home for 14 veterans that have returned from serving in Iraq.

She is also involved in town functions such as serving as Chairman of the Veterans Memorial Committee, in charge of POW/MIA ceremonies at Dutton park and at the town hall. Other involvements include promoting activities for community young people through the Patriot Pen Essay and Voice of Democracy contests.

Wallingford Grange members were very proud to present Patricia Lizotte with their Community Citizen Award.
