SEPTEMBER 21, 2009 -- Litchfield Grange No. 107 members wish to acknowledge all who made our recent agricultural fair at 435 Bantam Road a success, especially those who contributed vegetables, flowers, canned goods and crafts to be judged. Thanks also to Bud and Kirby as they manned our hot-dog stand, and to the ladies who baked and sold homemade items to satisfy any appetite. And thanks to the judges who passed out the ribbons and best-of-show medallions.
As usual, the staff at Big Value in Bantam and their generous customers made the sale of our raffle not only successful, but a very pleasant addition. Republican-American writer John McKenna caught the flavor of the grange with his magic camera and ready pen and quill.
Before closing, I must acknowledge the truly wonderful grant presented to the grange by the Scheer-Thoss Foundation. The new ceiling and lights installed by Bill Deacon and Rick Evangelisti were truly on time, on budget and a delight to all who visit.
-- Richard Healy, Master, Litchfield Grange
