Litchfield Grange Honors Citizen of the Year
  APRIL 24, 2010 --

Litchfield Grange No. 107 awarded Dick Dauphinais its Citizen of the Year award on Thursday, April 22nd, for his dedication to the Litchfield Community.

The well attended evening began with a dinner followed by the award ceremony. This is the 12th year that Litchfield Grange has honored a community member with the Citizen of the Year Award.

Dauphinais is a longtime member of the Litchfield Fire Department, hosts an annual flower sale for the Torrington Soup Kitchen, is well respected for distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables to non-profit organizations as well as originating several of the successful sites for bottle and can redemption. He often lends a helping hand to numerous events and organizations in the area.

Litchfield Grange was founded 120 years ago to advance the interests and concerns of the farming community. Today it continues to support legislation pertaining to the agricultural, as well as focusing on numerous community service projects and initiatives in the Litchfield area. The Grange is preparing for its annual flea market in May, its annual Fair in August, hosts a holiday cookie sale for Christmas, and recently began hosting a pie sale in time for Thanksgiving. Litchfield Grange also helps supports the Grange's scholarship fund at Wamogo Regional High School through it's various events, and awards camperships for children to attend Camp Berger in Winchester Center.
