APRIL 8, 2010 -- April has been declared a "Grange Month" by the National Grange, and Litchfield Grange announced it is celebrating by honoring Richard Dauphinais as its Citizen of the Year.
Mr. Dauphinais is well known and respected for the distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables to non-profit organizations as well as originating several of the successful sites for bottle and can redemption. He is involved with countless raffles, tag sales and other fund-raisers for volunteer organizations. He is a volunteer whose time has come for "a little recognition," the Litchfield Grange said in a press release.
The celebration will be held at the Grange at 435 Bantam Road in Litchfield on Thursday, April 22. The community is invited to the meeting at 7 p.m. The event is free and refreshments will be served
The Litchfield Grange was founded 120 years ago to advance the interest and concerns of the farming community. The current focus is on our community service in deed and voice. Members invite the public to take a look into their many activities.
