APRIL 5, 2010 -- April has been declared a "Grange Month" by the National Grange, and Litchfield Grange is celebrating by honoring Richard Dauphinais as their Citizen of the Year.
Dauphinais is well known and respected for the distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables to non-profit organizations, as well as originating several of the successful sites for bottle and can redemption. He is involved with countless raffles, tag sales and other fund raisers for volunteer organizations, and is a volunteer whose time has come for "a little recognition."
The celebration will be held at the Litchfield Grange Hall at 435 Bantam Road in Litchfield on Thursday night, April 22.
The community is invited to the open meeting at 7 p.m. The event is free and refreshments will be served.
Litchfield Grange was founded 120 years ago to advance the interest and concerns of the farming community. Today it continues to support legislation pertaining to the agricultural community. The current focus is on our community service in deed and voice. A non-partisan organization that is alive and well.
The celebration is open to members and non-members, and all are welcome to attend. THe community is encouraged to come for a look into Litchfield Grange's numerous community service activities.
