Riverton Grange remembers David Geddes

David A. Geddes, 85, of Winsted died Aug. 15, 2009, at Rose Haven Health Care in Litchfield following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Irene (Rebillard) Geddes, who died in 2002.

Born in Winsted, June 24, 1924, he was a son of Bertha (MacLelland) and William R. Geddes. He had lived here all of his life.

Mr. Geddes had worked several jobs during his career, but since 1961, he had been one of the last remaining dairy farmers in Litchfield County. He was a graduate of The Gilbert School, class of 1942, an Army veteran of both World War II and Korea, a Golden Sheaf member and past master of the Riverton Grange.

His survivors include a brother, Richard Geddes of Fayetteville, Ariz.; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Rebillard and Dorothy O'Connor and her husband, Robert, all of Winsted, and Margaret Geddes of Norfolk; and five nieces and nephews, Michael, Richard and Sylvia Geddes, Kimberly Langill and Kyle O'Connor.

He was predeceased by a brother, Harold Geddes.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, 11 a.m., at Riverton Congregational Church. Burial was held Aug. 19 in Forest View Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Riverton Congregational Church Building Fund.
