Around The Grange
Aug News from Wallingford Grange No. 33

By Stephen Fengler

  AUGUST 9, 2026 --

On Juneteenth, Wallingford Grange hosted a youth event where youth learned several different colonial dishes! Youth at the event made Johnny Cakes, Pease Porridge, and hermit cookies while learning basic kitchen skills along the way. Youth also were able to discover how families cooked and ate in colonial times.

There will be several events coming up in August and September. Wallingford Grange will be hosting a Floral Arranging Class (August 12th, 6-8pm). We will also be starting up our painted chair auction starting on July 26th. Our 89th annual Grange fair is also occurring on Saturday, September 12th from 12-5pm. Lunch will be served throughout the day. We will have Backyard Shenanigans for the Kids, Live Music, Crocheting Demonstration, Exhibits, Bake/ Craft Sale, Educational Interactions, and More!

Fair books are now available at the Wallingford Grange Hall and at various local Wallingford businesses and public places. An electronic copy of the fair book can also be found on our website by clicking on the Calander/events tab and then clicking on the agricultural fair section. Please use the fair book for inspiration on different baked goods, vegetables, flowers, photos, and more one can submit at the fair! The deadline to submit entries into the fair is September 10, 2026.
