Around The Grange
Jul News from Wallingford Grange No. 33

By Stephen Fengler

  JULY 7, 2026 --

Wallingford Grange held a wonderful craft workshop for youth in late May. There, we introduced young makers to the art of weaving and making a “colonial” mug rug in a relaxed, supportive setting. Hopefully a few will be entered in our Sept. Grange Fair!

At the beginning of June, we hosted an event where people could meet Alpacas and learn more about Alpaca farming. Many thanks to Linda Hettrick from Quinnipiac Valley Alpaca Farms for her lecture on alpaca farming. The alpacas Awinita and Nina were a great hit as well!

Finally, in June, we had a very successful bird walk where we saw a Yellow Warbler, a Redstart, a Pileated Woodpecker, a Louisiana Water Thrush, a Peewee, an Oven Bird, a Worm Eating Warbler, a few American Robins and a couple Turkey Vultures. Join us next Spring if you missed this walk.

Some special events Wallingford Grange is looking forward to hosting this summer include a wine tour at Guveia Vineyard in Wallingford (July 22nd 6pm -8pm) and a Floral Arranging Class (August 12th 6pm-

8pm). We will also be starting up our painted chair auction starting on July 26th (not July 1st) so please keep an eye out for the different chairs that one can bid on. Our grange fair is also occurring on Saturday, September 12th. One can find out more information about the fair and about how to submit entries into it on our Wallingford Grange webpage.

To stay informed about these different happenings and upcoming events at Wallingford Grange, please follow our “Wallingford Grange” Facebook page. Hope to see you at these events!
