SEPTEMBER 2009 -- So much has happened since my last column that it seems like more than two months have passed. So, let’s start at the beginning. Grange Sunday – June 14 - proved a very entertaining experience.
Our winners were:
“A Number” Contest – 1st from New London County Pomona & No. Stonington Grange was a skit by Nancy Weissmuller, Gene Bromley and Jeff Barnes entitled “George & Harriet and Apple Pie”. This skit was also a big hit at Lecturers Conference.
Talent Contest – Our winning entry was A Duet by Ron Purington & Dan Mutchler representing New London County Pomona and Lyme Grange. They represented Connecticut in the Northeast Talent Contest at Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, MA where they took 2nd place. Congratulations on a great performance. After the conference was over, the seven northeast Lecturers met and made some changes in the contest. As soon as I have a copy of the new rules I will be sending them to each Grange. The intent of these changes is to encourage more entries at the State level.

Thank you to everyone who participated.
Lecturers Conference was a great success. As I have said before, Connecticut Grangers are the best. Everyone worked together and everyone was a good sport. Our program went off without a hitch, thanks to all who participated. We had 37 in our delegation, the most of any State. I would also like to thank you all for the gift I was given at the banquet. Next year the conference will be held in Vermont. Connecticut’s program will be on the State of Texas. Please start looking for numbers we can use as time has a way of slipping by faster and faster.
See you around the State in the near future. |
