SEPTEMBER 2007 --
As I think about the fall season when we have an abundant fall harvest, I am reminded of the wonderful variety of produce available in God’s world. This variety is also present in the people which God has given us to enjoy in our life time.
In the book “The Tipping Point’ by Malcolm Gladwell, the personalities of the Connectors, Mavens and Salesmen are described.
Connectors enjoy meeting people and knowing as many people as possible. Mavens accumulate all kinds of information so that they may help other people with their problems and the constructive salesman helps people with their problems by convincing them to do more in the world.
The point is that each of these people does not do what they do just for personal gain, but to help and enjoy the people and world that God has made. Each of these people have characteristics which can easily be enjoyed because they are not motivated primarily by self gratification. They do what they do because that is the way God made them and they enjoy making life better for others as well as themselves. Any financial entanglements involved in their transactions occur at no more than fair market value and often their benefits are not financial nor do they increased political power.
I pray that you may recognize the many rooms in God’s house, use the your God given talents to improve all life on God’s earth and enjoy the abundance we all have in God’s world.
