SEPTEMBER 24, 2008 -- Mr. Alfred E. Goodson, 96, of 10 Baldwin St., died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at the Beacon Brook Health Center in Naugatuck. He was the husband of Marie (Deschino) Goodson.
Alfred was born Jan. 30, 1912, in Waterbury, son of the late Maurice and Ethel (Collyer) Goodson. He was a graduate of Leavenworth High School, where he was the valedictorian of the class. He was employed at American Brass, French Small Tube Division until he retired.
He was a member of Watertown Seniors Bowling League for more than 10 years, the Happy Timers Singing Group, where he was treasurer and soloist for 10 years, and sang with the Resurection Choir at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
He was a longtime member of the Bethlehem Grange, where he received The Order of Patrons of Husbandry Certificate for 75 years of faithful and devoted membership in the Grange, and in recognition of leadership and service in their fraternity. He was also an honorary director of the Bethlehem Fair.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Allen DeFerrari of Middlebury; a daughter, Randa Dobos of Watertown; a grandson, Kevin Dobos and his wife, Erin; a granddaughter, Brenna Dobos; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews in Connecticut and throughout the United States. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Walter Goodson, Mildred Goodson Miller, Ethel "Betty" Grant-Blais, Annie "Nancy" Goodson Russo, George Goodson and Rosemary Goodson Convard.
Arrangements: Funeral 10 a.m. Thursday at St. George's Episcopal Church, Tucker Hill Road, Middlebury. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Watertown. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers.
