From The Chaplain's Desk
December 2009 Chaplain's Corner

By Amy Whitcomb, State Chaplain

  DECEMBER 2009 --

This month gives us an opportunity to be a vehicle of blessings to others. Christmas is a time of sharing when there is a collective energy. Focusing on your collective energy, you have a great potential bringing a feeling of fullness and of richness. The energy we generate when we give and receive lovingly, can create magical holiday memories and traditions, and establish a mental, physical and emotional state that leads us on a path for the greater good.

Wherever you are in your life, Christmas will be whatever you make of it. You can create something qualitatively different for you and your family. The energy you create you create will see you through the rest of the year and beyond.

Follow these practices to create miraculous experiences of light and love beginning with the holiday season and throughout the rest of the year. Create new family ties, many people may not be connected with a solid family during the holidays. When families come together it can be pure joy. Script how you want your holidays to go. If you have had a less than joyous experience with your family in the past, now is the time to set the tone for a better experience. Set the tone before the family gets together by telling them how much you appreciate them and how excited you are to see the family, having a wonderful visit.

Let Spirit guide you. Times have changed when it comes to family.

Lots of people are living single or have family members spread out. If you are felling unconnected, follow your intuition, let go of past ideas and let Spirit guide you to where youa re supposed to be. Alternate ideas of Christmas will emerge as the real heart of Christmas comes out. Groups of singles and unrelated people are being called to celebrate together.

Get clear about the reason for the season. Look for the love and blessings of the season and open your heart. Christmas is a time to connect with God and other people in your life, including those who do not expect to be remembered. It's a time to create memories and start traditions. My wish for you is a blessed season and a wonderful, healthy New Year.
