Skip Beebe of Lyme Grange given Firefighter honor

Arthur (Skip) Beebe of Lyme Grange No. 147 was awarded The Connecticut State Grange “Firefighter of the Year Award” at the 134th annual State Grange Convention held in Norwich. “Skip” as he is known to many of his friends in the community, serves in the officer’s chairs as Chaplain. He is also on the Executive Committee of Lyme Grange and Vice President of The Hamburg Fair.

He joined the Old Lyme Volunteer Department in 1968 and during the past 50 years has served in many positions including Lieutenant, Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, Chief and President.

He is a member of the Old Lyme Historical Society and is on their Board of Directors. He has served numerous hours during the past four years renovating the former 134 year Old Lyme Grange building, which was  purchased by the Old Lyme Historical Society as their new home. The Connecticut Historical Society honored the Old Lyme Historical Society last year for their preservation of the 134 year building which in in the heart of Old Lyme Historic District

As a master carpenter he is self-employed in his company, Hudson Sullivan Homes, LLC.  He is also a member of St. Mark’s Church in Westbrook, where he serves as a Eucharist Minister. 

Skip volunteers countless hours in many charitable events, giving back to the community of Old Lyme and Lyme. 

In his spare time, he takes care of his bees and garden.

At the regular monthly meeting of Lyme Grange on November 1st, Skip was honored with a surprise reception at the Lyme Grange hall and was presented with his Firefighter Award from State Master George Russell. The State Master was accompanied by his wife Sharon Russell who graced our Grange with her presents.
