134th Annual Session of the Connecticut State Grange Coming Soon

The Connecticut State Grange returns again to the Holiday Inn Norwich for the 134th Annual Session, October 18-20, 2018.

The most important thing we can impress upon you at this time is to MAKE YOUR HOTEL RESERVATIONS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

We had some difficulty with room availability last year because the Holiday Inn is so close to Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino.  Many members waited until the end of September and early October to make the call and rooms were either in short supply or sold out.

Members who have special room requirements should also call as soon as possible.  We have a specific number of rooms reserved in our block.  Once those rooms are sold we can only add rooms if they are still available and the hotel is reluctant to release additional rooms at a late date because they can be sold a full rate to the general public rather than at the discounted rate the Grange receives.

Please call the local number we have listed at the beginning of this article.  Calling the Holiday Inn corporate line can result in misinformation about room availability and pricing.  If you do have difficulty reserving a room or are quoted a price that is more than the $105/night Grange rate, please let me know by email or phone and I'll make sure your reservation is corrected.

When calling be sure to tell them you are reserving under the Connecticut State Grange block of rooms and rate.

We will have more information regarding the schedule for session in next month's issue but please note that this is a full election year.  It is also the year when National Grange will meet in Stowe, Vermont.  Members who  need the Sixth Degree before heading for to Vermont for the Seventh should plan on attending the Sixth Degree on Saturday at State Session.

The Celebration Banquet worked extremely well on Friday evening last year, so it will be held again on Friday, October 19 beginning at 7 P.M. in the Grand Ballroom of the Holiday Inn.

We have four new menu options this year with Fillet Mignon, Chicken Marsala, Shrimp Scampi and Pasta Primavera.  All are served with a tossed salad, warm rolls and butter, vegetables, chocolate mousse cake and coffee/beverages.  The $30 price is an exceptional value when you consider the cost of restaurant meals today.

Your full or one day registration will include the buffet luncheons for that day as well.  A Deli Luncheon will be served on Friday and a Southern Barbecue will be served on Saturday.

We encourage all members to come for all or part of State Session.  It's not just for the officers and delegates.  We want all members to come and experience Session and go back to their Granges energized for the new Grange year.
