October News from the State Secretary: Hotel Rooms

By Todd Gelineau, CT State Grange Secretary

  October 9, 2017 --

We hope most of our members attending State Session made reservations with the hotel early. Just prior to printing, we learned the Holiday Inn was down to just 3 or 4 rooms for Thursday and Friday night. Judging by the number of Delegate cards returned to the Central Office I felt we needed a “back-up plan.” Working with the Holiday Inn, we were able to set up an agreement with the Hampton Inn Norwich. They are a brand-new hotel located just across the street from the Holiday Inn. They will have 10-15 rooms available to our members should the Holiday Inn sell out.

The rate at the Hampton Inn is higher ($129) but a hot breakfast is included and, as mentioned, the hotel is brand new and offers all the conveniences you would expect, including a pool. If you have any questions, please give me a call or send me an email at the address listed above. The numbers for both hotels are included on the front page of this issue.

Registrations continue to come in at the Central Office. Unfortunately, some delegate registrations are missing the delegate cards. One card is to be filled out and given to the delegate(s) to turn in at State Session. The other card is to be completed and mailed in to the Central Office as soon as possible. This is an important part of the credential process. Please send in your delegate card if you haven't already done so.

Please remember State Session is not just for the State Officers and delegates. It is your State Session and all members are encouraged to take part. The Lecturer's Program on Friday evening and the Sixth Degree on Saturday afternoon are open to members without registration. Registrations can still be made by filling out the form in this issue. Registration on Thursday/Friday and/or Saturday also includes your lunch. Banquet tickets are also available until Oct. 5 for $30 per person. Please keep in mind the Banquet has been moved to Friday evening at the Holiday Inn beginning at 7:00 P.M.

The Sixth Degree will be conferred at the hotel beginning at 3:00 P.M. Candidates for the Sixth Degree should arrive by 2:30. Tickets to receive the Degree are available for $10 from me throughout the Session. You may also call or email to receive them in advance.

Resolutions can still be submitted for State Session. However, by this printing, we require 150 copies of each resolution to be accepted. All resolutions should also have been adopted by a Subordinate or Pomona Grange prior to being submitted to State Grange.
