Killingly Grange News for September
  SEPTEMBER 14, 2015 --

On July 20 Killingly Grange held their annual summer “get together” picnic at the Grange.  As usual, it was a really hot night.  It was also a special occasion as there were (4) four members who have belonged to the Grange for 50 years or more.  The latest member, Glenna Bruno, was presented her 50 year certificate by State Master Noel Miller who congratulated her for her many years of service.

It was also a special week for Glenna as she had just had a big birthday celebration given by her family on the occasion of her 90th birthday.

In Glenna’s Grange life she has held positions of Master of Killingly Grange (8) years, Overseer for at least four and was Pomona for several years also.  She has been affiliated with Wolf Den Grange #61 as Ceres for several years and filled the chair of Lecturer at the former Brooklyn Grange #43.

Quote:  “Of my many years in the Grange I have seen many changes – some good and some not so good.  Years ago- the Granges would visit other Granges within the State and also visit Granges in other states nearby.  Often we had a couple of carloads meet at Killingly Grnage then go to RI or Mass. for a meeting and bring “entertainment” in the form of a skit or other activity as part of the Lecturer’s program.

Glenna has been the Killingly Grange correspondent for many years which she enjoyed.  Will she rest on her laurels?  Well, hardly!  She will sit on the sidelines and fill in where needed.

Of the 50 year plus members, Cranston Briggs, Josephine Stenback, Eleanor Davis and Glenna Bruno have all held offices at one time or another.

Hank the Burro was also in attendance at the meeting and congratulated Penny Harris and John Bennet on their upcoming marriage in August.  Best wishes also from Killingly Grange members.
