130th Session of the CT State Grange coming Oct 16, 17, 18

  SEPTEMBER 30, 2014 --

The 130th Annual Session of the Connecticut State Grange will be held Thursday through Saturday, October 16-18, at the Sheraton Hartford South Hotel, 100 Capital Blvd., Rocky Hill, CT.

Representing each of the over 50 Community Granges across the state will be delegates to the Convention to debate resolutions and policies on subjects ranging from handicap accessibility to school milk programs to traffic safety. The delegates will also work on resolutions dealing with a variety of internal Grange organizational topics.

Resolutions passed at the session will become policy of the Grange and will be lobbied for by the Connecticut State Grange Legislative Committee at the Connecticut State Legislature. Those resolutions pertaining to national policies will be sent to the National Grange Convention, to be held this November in Sandusky, Ohio, where delegates from Granges across the country will consider them.

The Connecticut State Grange is pleased to welcome Scott & Marie Nicholson as the National Representatives to the 130th State Session. Marie currently serves as National Flora and Scott is Master of the Montana State Grange. 

2014 is a Connecticut State Grange election year. Current Connecticut State Grange President Jody Cameron will present his final address of this term on Thursday evening, October 16, at 8:00 PM. Election of Officers will be held on Friday morning, October 17, at 9:15 AM, with installation of the new officers being held Saturday, October 18, at 3:30 PM.

On Friday evening, the conferral of the Sixth Degree by the officers of the Connecticut State Grange will take place, featuring a Rose Drill presented by Grange members from across the state.

The Celebration Banquet will be held Saturday evening, featuring Scholarship awards and a program prepared Connecticut State Grange Lecturer Marge Bernhardt of Cheshire.

Throughout the Convention, awards and recognitions will be presented to Community Granges and individual members for achievements over the past year in a wide variety of categories including agriculture, membership, public relations, and community service.
